Hollow Oak 9x12

Another of my old New Orleans graveyards series.  I found this amazing survivor of many storms oak tree and had to paint it.  Might have been hit by lightning or just wind ripping the whole front half of the tree away.  To keep the rest of the tree from falling over some optimistic caretaker trimmed off the two largest trunks on the left side.  After who knows how many years the good bark left on the back side has pushed up a new trunk twisting around and starting to wrap itself over the edges of the old wound.  A good reminder that with patience and hope we can all bounce back from anything.
